The daily recommended amount is 1 TBSP.

F$#% that.

You’re better than that. Let’s do 4, and if you’re really overweight, 8 TBSP a day.

This is going on my future driveway.

Health Benefits:

In addition to being packed with Omega-3s, fiber, and being the highest source of protein of any seed or grain, it also has

  • anti-inflammatory properties
  • 18% daily recommended amount of calcium
  • 27% daily recommended amount of phosphorus
  • 30% daily recommended amount of manganese
  • copper, iron, molybdenum, niacin, zinc

“But Matthew, how do you expect me to eat 4 TBSP a day?!”

Easy.

  • Toss a couple spoonfuls into your oatmeal.
Mix it all up. It tastes amazing!

This is the delicious way I start my mornings. It only has the best of the best in it—every ingredient tastes great and makes me healthier. The chia seeds are buried in there somewhere…

Chia seeds are flavorless so you can add it to almost anything. EXCEPT GREEN JUICES. It sounds like a winning combo on paper, but I had to learn the hard way. SO NASTY.

If you start doing this every morning your protein-supercharged brain and body will give you a big Thank You at work.

BAM. That’s 2 TBSP to start the day, and you’re already halfway there.

  • Make a Chia Seed Lemonade (w/stevia) as a pre-workout boost/afternoon hydrator.

Put in another 2 TBSP here. If you let it sit for a few minutes, it will expand into a boba-like jelly. Watch those seeds with amazement as they transform like those Magic Grow Dinosaur Capsules from your childhood. Why not have a little fun with your beverages? You’re bored at work anyway.

Almost done…

BOOM. Just like that you knocked out your 4 TBSP goal. Oh and by the way you just killed two birds with one stone. You were supposed to drink that lemon at some point today, remember? Nice work unlocking that bonus, champ.

If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can also make a Chia Seed Pudding for dessert. Recipe to be posted soon.

The Best Place to Buy Chia Seeds

I love bargains. My favorite magazine as a kid was Consumer Reports (Yes, super nerdy, but who could resist the appeal of those full red circles of approval?).

Row 3 is strangely satisfying, no? Am I just weird? Whatever it is, I'm buying it.

Row 3 is strangely satisfying, no? Is it just me? Whatever it is, I must buy it now.

Anyways, the best place to get the highest quality bang for your buck is at Costco.

They sell 32oz Nutiva Organic Chia Seeds for about $14. At this price, it’s 50% cheaper than buying it directly from Nutiva.com. For comparison, a 5 oz bag at Trader Joe’s goes for $5.
